In excavations at the historic site Saikū site, many “ink calligraphy pottery,” with characters written in ink on pottery, have been discovered. In the 171st survey of the Saigu ruins conducted in Heisei 22, Japan's oldest ink calligraphy pottery was discovered as an “Iroha Song” written in hiragana, but “nuru waka” is written on the inside of the box and “always” is written in ink on the outside, making it the oldest “Iroha Song” written in hiragana in Japan. It is a delicate handwriting, and it is thought that it was written by a woman serving Saio to memorize characters since it came from a section where Saio lived, and in reference to this historical fact, this time, we will provide an experience of writing favorite characters in ink on modern pottery.

Also, before writing on a pottery, they conduct hands-on courses on “calligraphy” and “handwriting,” and they learn to actually write characters they like, and draw the characters they have practiced on the pottery and take them home as a memorial.
